Tacoma Walk to Defeat ALS (In Olympia)
Saturday, September 14th, 2024
Join Father Jim and a legion of ALS Supporters as we walk to raise awareness of this life-altering disease and raise funds for treatment and research.
A message from Father Jim;
I hope that you can join me and hundreds of other folks on Saturday, September 14 at 11:00am for this year's Walk to Defeat ALS, Olympia, at Saint Michael's Parish(Registration opens at 9:30).
Early September is such a beautiful time of year. We will gather on the field, down by the school.
There are three different walks, depending on the level of ability and time. The first walk is the shortest and is around the block of our parish property. The second walk is about 1 mile with the integration of the watershed trail. The third walk is about 2.5 miles up the Watershed Trail and then through the east side neighborhood.
Please check this link for more information and to register and/or donate to our team, Saint Michael the Archangel. Our team goal is to raise $25,000 for the work of research and local support here in the NW for folks with ALS. Unlike myself, many people with ALS only have family members to help them. This becomes a true burden. I'm so grateful to all of you who support me through prayer and physical presence as I continue my journey with ALS. Please know that I pray for you.
In Christ, through the intercession of blessed Pier Giorgio, I love you.
Father Jim

Why We Need Your Help
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
