We are participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS in memory of my wonderful dad, Kenton Eiffert. If you knew my Dad, you couldn't help but like him. Within minutes of meeting him, you knew he was a fan: a fan of people, a fan of the Royals, a fan of life. His enthusiam lifted our spirits.
Kenton was everyone's #1 fan and never failed to show up to offer his support. He jumped at the opportunity to gather with friends and family, and he maintained relationships accross the country through watching and playing sports. Kenton's #1 Fans was named in honor of his unwavering support and spirit of camaraderie.
In 2015, ALS came out of nowhere and took my dad's life away one day at a time. When ALS took nearly every physical ability, he was grateful he still had one finger to text and connect with his fellow fans. We lost him in 2019 and miss him so much. We wish we had more time with him.
Team Kenton's #1 Fans walks with the hope that one day future lives will be saved. We walk for a fighting chance against ALS. We walk to support those living with ALS, their families, and their caregivers. We walk to fund life saving research.
ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, control limbs, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
Thank you for learning about ALS and please consider walking with me in Austin or consider a donation in memory of Kenton. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this horrible disease.
