Thank you for visiting our Team Page for the 2024 Walk to Defeat ALS! Please consider joining and/or supporting us as we continue to work toward a treatment and a cure!
Members of our team have been participating in this event for the past 20 years in support of the mission of the ALS Association. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). We also hope to increase awareness and support the efforts across the world aimed at improving treatment options and finding a cure. We believe research and scientific study are critical to solving the "ALS puzzle" but are also devoted to helping people living with ALS now.
Why We Need Your Help
ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. It is often referred to as an "orphan disease" because every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle with this disease. Unfortunately, there are no ALS survivors. This disease occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000/year to provide the care that people with ALS need. Help make a difference in the lives of these patients and families by donating or joining our team!
