Thank you for helping us reach our fund raising goal! Like every team in this fight, we have a personal connection and reason to continue to fight and walk. Our Team Gassner walks to honor the memory of our uncle, our dad and brother Tom. In fact, the t shirt design that you see as our team picture was selected by our brother, Tom Gassner. Since losing these family members to this debilitating disease, we have had our sister and one more brother diagnosed. We know that there are many families who have had more people affected with this disease than ours. However, just one family member is one too many. Let us all hope that each year raising more and more money to fight for the research needed will rid all of us of ALS once and for all! Watching your loved ones suffer with this disease is not anything I would want any person to experience!
Please take a moment to read the statistics about this disease listed below. I know it's been said many times, but, any amount donated is greatly needed and appreciated. You can also donate even a small monthly recurring amount by joining the "Extra Step Program." You can reach out to Brittany Hafford (314-876-6858)for more information. Thank You!
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
