Team Surinder Strong is raising funds & awareness for a third year.
Over two years, Team Surinder Strong raised nearly $20,000 with the generosity and kindness of friends and family. We continue to advocate in Mom Bhutani’s honor and to stand with all individuals and families impacted by this monstrous disease.
Surinder Kaur Bhutani, our wife, mother, and grandmother lost her battle with ALS on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 with all of us by her side.
Please join us on Saturday September 7th, as we walk in her honor. If you cannot join, please consider making a donation to the ALS foundation in her name.
Here is Surinder’s story.
She lovingly raised her family in Catonsville, Baltimore. Surinder volunteered in the Baltimore County Public Schools that her children attended. She understood the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion way ahead of her time.
Surinder touched the lives of 1000's of children and families as a teacher in the Headstart program in Baltimore City.
She was a pioneer of the Sikh community in Baltimore. She and her late husband, Pritam Singh Bhutani, were instrumental in starting the first Sikh Gurdwara (temple) in Baltimore.
Surinder continued her work in early childhood education at Westmoreland Children’s Center, where she again positively impacted 1000's of lives of young children and their families.
Surinder joined her husband, Gajinder Ahuja, through her work with the Sikh Human Development Foundation, raising money for underprivileged youth in India who otherwise would not have have had the opportunity to attend college.
Her beautiful legacy of giving will continue in the lives of the many children she educated and cared for.
Surinder enjoyed her long neighborhood walks. It was her time to chat with neighbors, reflect on spiritual teachings, and admire the birds and flowers along the way. The things that mom loved, including her daily 5 mile walk, were snatched away by the ALS monster. Through it all she remained resilient, tough, and compassionate.
Again, please do consider joining us on Saturday, September 7th in Baltimore as we proudly walk in Surinder Bhutani's honor.
If you cannot join, please consider making a donation to the ALS Association in Surinder Kaur Bhutani’s name.
Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
