Home Repair

In addition to building and/or rehabbing homes, the eight affiliates in Chicagoland help income-challenged homeowners with repairs and home maintenance through the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI). Participating affiliates perform a limited range of housing interventions based on the particular needs of the qualified property.

After confirming that the applicant meets basic requirements regarding ownership and income, an initial inspection of the home is executed to determine the scope-of-work and overall viability of the proposed project.

The range of potential services will vary from one affiliate to another and may include:

• Weatherization – Energy efficiency retrofit.
• A "Brush with Kindness" – Basic exterior painting to restore the external quality of a house.
• Critical Home Repairs – Extensive interior or exterior work performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues, or code violations.
