What We Do

We believe that everyone should have a safe, affordable place to call home.

Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of homeowner (partner) families. Habitat isn't a giveaway program; it's a hand-up, not a hand-out. Each homeowner family is required to invest "sweat equity" hours into the construction of their home and the homes of other homeowners. This reduces the cost of the house, increases the pride of ownership among family members, and fosters the development of positive relationships with other persons. Habitat homes are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with a loan with below market interest rates. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are then recycled into funding for future homes.
