Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity

With Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, you have the opportunity to volunteer in your community.

Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers ages 16-17 can only sign up for opportunites that specify 16+ and need to volunteer alongside a parent/legal guardian while working with us. All volunteers are required to be registered and signed up for an opportunity in order to participate.

Habitat has a variety of needs throughout the year for skill-based volunteering. Please let us know of any talents you may have in our skill section when you register with us!

ReStore Volunteer Opportunities

Our ReStore relies on volunteers for a wide variety of tasks including receiving donations, processing items to sell, putting together furniture, cleaning, and assisting customers. Click here for individual ReStore Aurora West volunteer opportunities. Restrictions apply to those under 18.

Community Service

Fox Valley Habitat welcomes Court-Ordered Community Service within Kane County only

Volunteers needing Court-Ordered Community Service must be pre-approved before beginning hours. We reserve the right to consider offenses on a case-by-case basis as to whether an individual will be allowed to volunteer for court-ordered community service with our organization. Certain offenses, including, but not limited to, felony convictions, arson, burglary, assault, battery, robbery and theft will not be accepted.

All our community service volunteers must go through the Kane County Probation Office before any hours can be worked. Please do not sign up for any volunteer shifts until you are approved. Any hours worked before being approved will not count towards your hours.

Contact Mary Kosters at the Kane County Probation office to get permission to do community service hours with our organization at kostersmary@16thcircuit.illinoiscourts.gov or 630-897-9388

Matching Gifts

Ever wish you could multiply your gift to Habitat for Humanity? Here’s a way — employer matching contributions. Thousands of companies have Matching Gift programs which double, or even triple individual, tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Check with your employer to determine if they offer a matching gifts program.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts may qualify for significant tax deductions. Giving options include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. To find out how you can financially contribute to Habitat for Humanity and provide a lasting legacy, contact Jeff at 630-294-8575 or j.barrett@foxvalleyhabitat.org.

Gift of Stocks or Bonds

A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping Habitat, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs. If you would like to discuss a gift of stocks or bonds, contact Jeff at 630-294-8575 or j.barrett@foxvalleyhabitat.org.
